Important dates this week to come out in support of language programs and our schools

RALLY FOR EDUCATION TUESDAY, APRIL 6
& PUBLIC HEARING SUPPORT THIS WEEK!

THE RALLY...
We need numbers in a show of support for our schools at an education rally outside in the front of the Fairfax County Government Center starting at 4:30 p.m. on Tues, April 6, the first day of the County Board of Supervisors (BOS) Public Hearings.

Wear your school spirit t-shirts and bring a sign to demonstrate community support and encourage supervisors to provide FCPS with level school transfer funding (same amount as FY2009 and FY2010) to preserve the quality of our schools and prepare for future budget obligations of the Virginia Retirement System (VRS).

If the BOS does not provide a level school transfer for FY2011 and accepts the County Executive's recommended $16.1 million cut to the school transfer, it is still possible that we may lose the class size restoration and/or other programs that were re-instated in the FCPS advertised budget and the future sustainability of our schools.

Slogan ideas to get you started include:
High Value $chool$ = High Property Value$
World-Class Counties Maintain World-Class Schools
Make the level-headed decision: Level-fund our schools!
Level School Transfer Makes Cents
Sharpen your pencils...fund our schools!
Level FCPS Transfer = Smart Planning for Future!
Preserve Our Schools!
AFTER THE RALLY & PUBLIC HEARING SUPPORT on April 6, 7, 8 ...
The rally will run from 4:30 p.m. until just before 6 p.m. Afterwards, we need supporters in the audience at the County BOS Meeting & Public Hearings starting at 6 p.m., Tues, April 6. FCPS School Board will make its budget presentation during the first part of the meeting with the public hearing and speakers to follow around 7 p.m.

You do not have to speak at the public hearings to make an impact! Numbers in the audience are just as powerful as numbers of speakers so please make time to come out for at least one afternoon or evening of the public hearings to stand in support of education speakers!  In addition to Tues, April 6, public hearings continue Weds, April 7 & Thurs, April 8 starting at 3 p.m. at the Government Center.

If possible, contact fairfaxflags@gmail.com if you plan to come to the rally, and/or provide support in the audience and we can let you know when FLAGS and other education supporters are speaking.

As a group we have worked hard this year to preserve our school quality and programs and your support is still very important.

Thank you for your advocacy,
