Immersion programs in Fairfax County in danger of being cut!

I just sent this blast:

We have been contacted by parents concerned about the FCPS FY2011 budget and the future funding of elementary foreign language programs. Last year’s community dialogue meetings were the venue for many to claim foreign language is a luxury that should be cut during tough times. Both FLES and Immersion Programs were mentioned for cuts in County summaries and FCPS presentations (see p.10 of FCPS presentation and p.2 of community dialogue summary for details on FLES cuts).

How you can help?

- Please sign the petition in favor of foreign language by going to: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/SupportFLESfunding/?e

- Please attend and speak-up for foreign language at the upcoming Fairfax County/FCPS community dialogue sessions. The first of these meetings is in the McLean Community Center on Tuesday, September 29th, from 7-9 pm.

For more information on other dialogue sessions:

For additional information, please contact the head of Foreign Language Coalition – Sandy Knox at sandygknox@yahoo.com.

Thank you for sending along.  We'll do our best to attend or at the very least sign the petition.
